Equitable division or distribution
The division of property during a divorce in fair, not necessarily equal, manner of the items that a couple acquired while married. Not all property is positive; marital debts could be a part of the distribution. In determining an equitable division, things such as the length of the marriage and earning capacity of the parties is considered.
