#3 - Paul McCartney and Heather Mills

After battling for almost two years, Heather Mills, the estranged wife of Paul McCartney, was awarded $50 million in her divorce proceedings with the former Beatle.

The couple married in 2002 after they met at a charity event. They have a 4-year-old daughter, Beatrice. They announced their "amicable" split in 2006, but eventually the divorce proceedings turned nasty when Mills asked for a $251 million settlement. When the couple couldn't reach an agreement, they went to court.

The court's settlement totaled $48.6 million and included $1.2 million a year for Mills, $5 million to purchase a London home and $70,000 a year to care for the couple's daughter, an amount Mills said was not enough for private school, security or airfare to visit her father.
