Actor and producer Morgan Freeman announced he was separated from his wife, Myrna, shortly after a highly publicized, late-night car accident, in which his female passenger, 48-year-old Demaris Meyer, was also injured.

The 71-year-old actor had been married for 24 years. Reports have surfaced that his soon-to-be ex will get more than $100 million in the divorce, including a $7 million home in the Virgin Islands and a $10 million apartment in Manhattan.

The Memphis native has starred in "Clean and Sober" in 1988; "Lean On Me," "Glory" and "Driving Miss Daisy" in 1989; "The Shawshank Redemption" in 1994; and "Seven" in 1995. He won a Best Supporting Actor Oscar for "Million Dollar Baby" in 2005.

Freeman married Myrna in 1984, more than five years after divorcing his first wife, Jeanette Adair Bradshaw. Freeman has two sons, Alfonso and Saifoulaye, from previous relationships and is the adopted father of his first wife's daughter, Deena. Myrna and Morgan Freeman have one child, Morgana.
