Contributor Bio: Dr. Pamela Thompson
Dr. Thompson has been a licensed psychologist since 2002. She has worked in mental health care since 1996. She recently held an office at the Anxiety and Stress Management Institute in addition to owning her own practice, Building Bridges to Better Lives, P.C. Dr. Thompson is now a psychologist-turned-professional life coach specializing in: the healthy development and enhancement of male-female relationships; assertiveness training and boundary-setting; and performance enhancement (e.g., academic, public-speaking, and sports). Since 2004, she has helped about 100 clients a year clarify their life vision and strengthen problem-solving and decision-making skills. She has catered to the Christian community, married couples and female adolescents. Prior to owning her practice, she worked as a clinical psychologist at Metro State Prison for women in Atlanta where she oversaw mental health assessment for some 50 new inmates a week and facilitated several groups on the subjects of "forgiving yourself," "emotional eating," "choosing to live," and "empowering minds." Previously, she worked in public relations in various capacities for Mayors Andrew Young and Maynard Jackson. She is a native Atlantan educated at the University of Georgia where she received her B.A. in journalism (concentration in public relations) and the Georgia School of Professional Psychology where she received her M.A. and Psy.D. in clinical psychology. Dr. Thompson has joined forced with six other psychologists to form the Novem Group, LLC, an executive coaching firm.
