Thank you soo much for your input....I never thought about "legal aid"....He is so controlling..I am home with my severelly impaired daughter and unable to work out of the home...When I tried to get some independance that way...I took a Third shift job...stocking shelves at a retail store..just to get out of the house and around other people...and to get some of my own money...found out that it is hard work for a 50 yr old woman...he came in ..intoxicated and caused a scene and I was let go...from my job....he absolutely hates it when I interact with other people.....I do not get ANY money of my own...if I do...he wants receipts for What I used it for...so the whole money thing is a big issue in me getting out of here....Thank you so Much...I am calling today!!!

My friend used the online divorce and couldn't get her spouse to sign it so she has had to go back and refile with a lawyer and lost the original fees and time that she spent getting all of the correct forms etc. Just be careful and possibly use an online site that has a guarantee or offers support in case of the ex not signing it etc.

Paula is right - "onine" is just where you get them to help with the forms and stuff, but there is still a bit of a DIY issue to it (do-it-yourself). Some people are ok with that and like the control/cost savings, some people dont and want the reassuance of a lawyer - its really up to you!

if you don't have many assets or debts, a do it yourself divorce may be the way to go.  legal aid in your town may also be an option, they usually offer free or low fee guidance.
