legal consequences of separation

My wife and I have agreed to proceed with our divorce and the situation at home is, shall we say...not pleasant.

We have an appt with a mediator in two weeks with hopes to file electronically and close in 90 days. We live in Washington state.

My question is that we would both like to physically separate much sooner than that (ie. in next several days). I have found alternative housing and am willing to move out but want to make sure I'm not putting myself at risk legally.

We have talked about splitting our accounts and covering our own separate costs. If I do this, does she take legal control over the house or increase her stake in the house.  Our plans are to sell the house within the next 6 months.

Any feedback or advice you can share would be greatly appreciated!

This is an interesting topic for me since I am in the same boat but am in PA. Could you advise is this the same in PA? I would love to have some space since it's been a year but am not sure if making this decision is legally correct or not. If I change my address is he going to get more ability to keep the house and win over all in $? Also if I am to buy anything - such as aonther house to live in would he be able to put that on the divorce $ as well even though we are "separated"?

washington is a no fault 50/50 division of property state - you won't jeapordize anything by moving. Go enjoy some peace.
