Norris Burkes' column takes a spiritual, often comical look at everyday life. He graduated from Baylor University, where he received a bachelor of arts in religion and journalism. He has a master of divinity degree from Golden Gate Seminary. Norris spent eight years as a Baptist pastor before joining the active duty Air Force in 1994.
In 1999, he came to Patrick Air Force Base where he served as the chaplain at Cape Canaveral. In 2002, he left active duty to become a civilian hospital chaplain in Sacramento, Calif. He continues his military service as a chaplain in the California National Guard.
Norris' column began with Florida Today newspaper in Brevard County, Fla., in October 2001 and is now syndicated in more than 30 newspapers in North America. In 2004, the National Society of Newspaper Columnists named his column the 3rd best in America in Newspapers under 100K in circulation. In 2006, his columns were published in a book called "No Small Miracles" by Integrity Publishing.
