A
New Jersey Judge handed down her decision in the case of the gay couple married
in Canada who wanted to divorce in NJ.
The
case has gained national attention because many states are unwilling to
acknowledge gay marriage, so they won't consider gay marriage. The worry is
that if they acknowledge the divorce, it will look as though they're
legitimizing the marriage.
Last
week, Superior Court Judge Mary Jacobson, said that a same sex couple that was
married in Canada could divorce in New Jersey. This could affect the way other
states handle gay divorce.
