Arizona
is considering an amendment to their divorce law. They're talking about
including "spousal misconduct" as an influential factor.
If
passed, the new bill will not affect the courts judgment for granting divorce,
but it will affect how the court divides assets and sets alimony. Currently
Arizona Judges are required to look at these issues, "without regard to
marital misconduct."
This
could mean that things like extramarital affairs and spousal abuse will bring
higher rewards to the victim. Is this appropriate, or will it just tie up court
time with he said/she said drama.
