David
Goldman hasn't seen his son since 2004. That was the year his wife took the boy
to Brazil, and never returned.
Bruna
Goldman took, then four-year-old, Sean on a two week trip to see family. Since
then, David has only been allowed the rare phone call with son Sean. He's been to Brazil several times, but never
allowed to see his son. He took his case to the New Jersey court, and they
agreed that Sean should be brought back, but the Brazilian government has not
enforced the ruling.
Later
Bruna remarried, which was contrary to international divorce law, further
complicating things. Recently, she died
in childbirth, and her new husband tried to erase Goldman from Sean's birth
certificate.
Never
giving up, David took the case to US Rep, Chris Smith. Smith helped Goldman, and this week Goldman
is in Brazil with his son. This is just a visitation, but it's a start. It's
time together for David and Sean.
Something they haven't shared in almost half of Sean's life.
